We’re looking for an Apparel Technical Designer with 5+ years’ experience to join our team in the Toronto office. Experience in baby & children’s apparel an asset.

Reporting to the Director of Design & PD, this Technician will play an invaluable role in developing cohesive apparel collections. You are meticulous with details and driven by the technical aspect of the design process focusing on tech spec packs, fabric qualities, styling details and execution of the product from sample development all the way through to production.

This role will see you working in a face past environment with product developers, merchants and manufacturers to implement playfully sophisticated product ideas. You’ll get hands on experience in the front lines and gain working insights on what it takes to go from concept to reality. Demonstrating a sustained focus on the four pillars of Pehr’s production strategy: superior quality, attention to detail, efficiency and sustainability will be essential to your success in this role.

We are seeking someone who has a solid portfolio of previous work and is excited to be working for a fast-growing Toronto based international brand.

What you’ll be doing

o  Create sketch styles using Illustrator showing garment engineering for each style to be produced

o  Create and maintain detailed tech spec packs, giving fit and construction directions through clear illustration, written detail, and/or verbal communication

o  Create, update and utilize pattern blocks to ensure standards are being met

o  Compare the SMS, PP and Production Samples against Tech Pack specs while providing technical expertise

o  Lead fit reviews with PD, management team and factories; recapping group discussion so that all involved parties have a clear understanding

o  Identify potential issues, correct fit issues and make appropriate recommendations

o  Communicate changes to overseas makers and participating in factory calls.

o  Market research new fit styles and participate in brainstorming sessions of new product ideas

o  Assist with QC/QA issues, testing and regulations

o  Manage in-house inspections and audits of garments

o  Send swatch references to the factory and organize apparel samples for each season

 

Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or equivalent from a 4-year college or university 

·      Minimum5 years’ apparel design experience, preferably with a children's wear background

·      Experience in Kids/Toddler/Baby product safety standards, and testing (North American & Global)

·      Comprehensive insight into garment construction, trim cards, specifications and grading

·      Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Specifically, Illustrator and Photoshop 

·      Ability to sketch, illustrate and communicate visual ideas

·      Should be able to work with different materials and understand their capabilities as well as their limitations

·      Expert at pattern drafting, correcting and how different applications affect garments

·      Proficient at managing workload within production timelines with the use of a PLM / PDM system

·      Team player outlook with the skill set to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

·      Strong communication skills- both written and verbal

Analysis, accuracy, and strategy are core to the role of Merchandise Planning Manager at Pehr.

The merchandise planner is responsible for the achievement of inventory, margin and turnover targets which align to company financial goals. As merchandise planning manager, you will participate in high level strategic planning with senior management, while also providing the analytical data needed to support the wholesale and ecommerce teams in developing strategies to achieve their respective sales and margin targets. This highly dynamic and collaborative role will see you working closely with multiple stakeholders; from logistics and production to design and marketing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES·      

o  Develop and execute merchandise financial plans by product classification which align to overall company financial targets

o  Develop purchase/investment plans and accurate receipt flow forecasts

o  Own the monthly in season Open To Buy (OTB) forecast of sales and inventory needs within budgeted goals

o  Establish and manage target inventory levels and turns by country and channel

o  Maintain constant communication with production team and all manufacturers, reacting to sales performance,  production flow, in stocks, and any inventory concerns

o  Report weekly to total company on updated business trends, inventory and critical stock replenishment

o  Actively participate in new product and assortment development, owning all pricing negotiations ensuring alignment to overall margin targets

o  Own all new product launch forecasts and buys while supporting and collaborating with marketing and sales teams to develop and execute on strategies to achieve planned results

o  Perform monthly re-forecasting of sales, margin, and inventory based on trend to identify risks/opportunities

o  Develop exit strategy for all discontinuing collections

o   Develop and share post mortem analysis providing insight on performance against established KPI’s and provide recommendations to improved future planning and assortment building   

o  Utilize company approved tools and processes to support planning and measurement of the business

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·      You have a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in business, retail management, or a related field

·      You're experienced in planning and/or buying with at least 3 years' in the retail space

·      You are a natural problem solver, using your strong analytical skills to find solutions or improve efficiency

·      You have an entrepreneurial spirit, thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and relish in working collaboratively with cross-functional groups.

·      You are an excellent communicator- written and verbal

·      You're technically savvy and proficient in Excel

We are looking for a passionate product person to join our team as the Production Specialist

Working closely and in collaboration with the Product Development Team, you will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the global production strategy for the brand.

Your extensive knowledge and understanding of the apparel and soft textile production process coupled with your ability to effectively manage the valued relationships of all manufacturing partners and agents will ensure you can deliver on the goal of a fully optimized production process for the brand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PRODUCTION FLOW

o  Develop timeand action calendars for all replenishment programs

o  Oversee management of production timelines, recommending solutions to challenges as needed

o  Work closely with all vendors and agent offices to ensure that monthly production capacity is fully utilized while constantly re-evaluating the production plans to ensure they meet the needs of the business

o  Negotiate production lead times, cost and minimums with suppliers

o  Management of raw material sourcing in tandem with PD group ; Confirm fabric and trim requirements through commitments and future forecasting to ensure efficiencies in scale and sourcing

o  Coordinate and lead weekly production meetings with factories, agents, design and product development groups

 QUALITY ASSURANCE

o  Develop and lead strategy to ensure all finished replenishment products are consistent with the approve standard and adheres to the Pehr principles of excellence in product quality, performance and integrity

o  Attend key product development meetings, conduct product risk assessments, identify potential quality issues and provide recommended solutions with no or minimal impact on quality, cost and/or deliveries

o  Constantly evaluating global trends and spearheading improvements to process and procedures to ensure Pehr SOP’s for production and regulatory compliance are a reflection of industry best practice

 

TESTING AND REGULATIONS

o  Assist with the preliminary and bulk product testing in collaboration with vendors to achieve brand quality standards and regulations

o  Accountable for reporting product non-compliance, quality issues, failed test results, and propose corrective action plans on a regular basis to the PD Director

o  Responsible for staying current and maintaining a strong understanding of relevant regulations and standards

o  Supports the International Business team by conducting regulatory compliance assessments and developing region specific protocols as required

 

VENDOR RELATIONS

o  Responsible for tracking and reporting vendor performance statistics, factory audits and certifications

o  Create and monitor all factory POs: ensuring all systems and PO’s reflect correct costs and delivery dates and SKU data

o   Communicate Pehr production, packing and shipping requirements to all factories and work with agents to ensure adherence. Monitor performance and report on any non-compliance issues to management

o   Maintain strong supplier relationships through regular, clear communication

o   Constantly review and implement new processes and structures to improve organization, communication, and effectiveness.

o   Ongoing assessment of existing supplier base and sourcing of new suppliers that offer competitive pricing, good quality product in line with margin requirements and order volumes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Post-secondary education in Fashion Design, Production or similar field

·       2-4 years experience in apparel or consumer goods production

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong knowledge of MS Excel and Google Docs

·       A collaborative and experience production professional with extensive knowledge of product sourcing, negotiation and garment production processes. 

·       Highly effective communication style- both written and verbal with domestic and overseas vendor partners

·       Quickly and effectively identifies problems and risks within supply chain responding with a clear, creative approach to resolving.

·       Equally adept working in a collaborative team environment and independently

·       Previous experience inleading changes of production timelines and seasonal calendars is an asset

·       Extremely organized and detail-oriented

·       Able to handle a fast-paced environment and manage multiple competing demands

What we're looking for

We’re looking for a full-time MARKETING INTERN to join our team in our Toronto office. In this developing role, you will be able to wear many hats, and will have exposure to all aspects of the organization: e-commerce, wholesale, product development and operations.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Intern will assist with delivery of various marketing initiatives for a variety of home, lifestyle and children’s products and be involved with the maintenance of our social media and web presence.

We are a looking for an intern interested in gaining exposure to the marketing and retail space. The ideal candidate is someone who takes initiative, is reliable, dedicated and detailed oriented.

What you'll be doing: 

- Support the development and execution of the brand’s marketing and communications plans including advertising, social & digital media campaigns, print collateral and overall brand communication pieces.

- Work closely with the Director of Marketing and the Art Director to help execute and maintain creative components on our e-commerce portal, including CRM newsletters, promotional creative updates, customer requests etc.

- Monitor, review and compile the analytics from all social marketing components including Instagram, Ad Roll, Ad Words, Facebook etc. 

- Participate in all aspects of our photoshoots – prepping inventory, sourcing styling components and maintaining final photoshoot imagery.

- Working with the Brand Manager, upload images and update product information on wholesale and vendor portals.

- Compiling research and information for various projects when requested.

Qualifications: 

- Recent graduate or currently completing a university or college program in Digital Marketing or Marketing.

- Digital marketing education and hands on experience is mandatory.

- Knowledge of Shopify, social media remarketing and paid ads, email marketing, Banner Advertising, SEO and Google Adwords is mandatory.

- Results and detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.A proactive creative thinker who can generate new ideas/solutions to meet internal and external requirements.

- Have strong interpersonal skills with exceptional verbal communication skills.

- Fast learner, and must be comfortable working within a dynamic, challenging environment.

- Strong computer proficiency (Word, Excel).
